SCOTUS Protects The 2nd Amendment

Today Thursday June 23, 2022 the Supreme Court released it’s opinion in a 6-3 ruling to strike down New Yorks concealed-carry law.

The court holds that New York’s “proper-cause” requirement to obtain a concealed-carry license violates the Constitution by preventing law-abiding citizens with ordinary self-defense needs from exercising their Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms in public for self-defense.

The state law at the heart of this case required anyone who wants to carry a concealed handgun outside the home to show “proper cause” for the license. New York courts interpreted that phrase to require applicants to show more than a general desire to protect themselves or their property. Applicants had to demonstrate a special need for self-defense – for example, a pattern of physical threats.

Has the time finally come to get an unrestricted concealed carry pistol license for self defense in the State of New York?
